South Gippsland Water’s service area covers 22 towns and 4,000 square kilometres.
South Gippsland is located about 2 hours drive from Melbourne and is well known for its coastal resorts, such as Inverloch, Cape Paterson and Port Albert. The region also has two internationally recognised National Parks: Wilson’s Promontory and Tarra Bulga, north east of Yarram.
Key industries include agriculture, primarily dairy farming, associated production industries and tourism.

South Gippsland Water’s total operation in 2008/09 comprised:
• Some 18,995 water assessments [accounts] over 21 rural centres
• 13 reservoirs and 18 service storages

South Gippsland Water has the job for you! Water Treatment
Traineeship: 2 years, Full time, Contract.
South Gippsland Water is
looking for a year 12 school leaver or similar, from our local region,
who is interested in kick starting a career in the water industry.
Upon completion the successful applicant will have a nationally
recognised qualification in Water Industry Operations - Treatment. Based
in our central western area ranging across Leongatha/
Korumburra/Wonthaggi, the traineeship will include the completion of
Certificate II and III in Water Industry Operations through the Water
Industry Training Centre. At
the completion of the traineeship the successful applicant will be fully
qualified to operate a water treatment plant.
• Reasonable degree of physical fitness
• Ability to operate plant and equiptment
• Demonstrated skills with regards to tool use
• A current manual drivers licence
• No current qualifications/prior training
Trainee wage band B ($17,584.20 - $23,712 p.a.). All training
costs, equipment and protective clothing will be provided by South
Gippsland Water.

Occupational Health and Safety Officer
Full Time Permanent Position
South Gippsland Water invites applications for the position of Occupational Health and Safety Officer. Based in Foster and reporting to the OH&S Coordinator, this role involves working with an accredited Occupational Health and Safety management system, process improvement, and using risk management strategies and systems.
The
successful applicant should demonstrate the ability to communicate at
all levels across the organisation and will confidently promote a more
proactive risk management / behavioural approach to OH&S. Experience in
the practical application of safety measures in an industrial
environment, preferably in a multi location organisation will be highly
regarded.

Ms
Joan Liley
was appointed as a Director of the Board in 2004. Joan has been
re-appointed to the board as Chair (1 October 2011 to 30 September
2013).
She
is
currently Chair of the Executive Remuneration Committee. Ms Liley
is a partner in a sheep and cattle grazing business and is a former
teacher. She has recently retired as a member of Gippsland Ports
Committee of Management Incorporated (2003 - 2011) and as a board member
of the the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority (2003 – 2011).
Ms Liley has a Bachelor of Commerce, Diploma of Education and is
a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

David Schultz is a Civil Engineer and holds a Company Director Diploma.
He is an independent member of the Bass Coast Shire Council Audit
Committee and a Director of the Inverloch and District Community Bank.
David along with his wife Jan and family have owned a holiday house in
Inverloch for over 30 years. He has been actively involved with the Surf
Life Saving Club since it started in 1998, being a member of the first
patrol and President of the club from 1999 until 2006. Previously David
held various executive roles with GHD Global including Practice Leader
of the Management Consulting practice and Senior Project Director Middle
East.
John Anderson
Cert EDP,MACS.Appointed 1st of October 2007.
John brings over 30 years experience in the Information Technology
industry to the organization. In partnership with his wife, he also
operates a Dairy farm in West Gippsland. John is currently an
independent information technology consultant and is the Deputy Chair of Victrack, a Director of the West Gippsland Healthcare Group and a
Director of the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority. John has
a strong interest in community and volunteer groups including Landcare.
Jim Fawcett CPA. Appointed 1st of October 2007.
Jim is a certified practising accountant and partner in a local
accounting firm for over 25 years. He has also had extensive involvement
with local community and sporting groups during that time. He is a
former board member and President of Woorayl District Memorial Hospital
and its successor Gippsland Southern Health Service. He is a councillor
and currently serving as Mayor of South Gippsland Shire Council.
Kim
McGrath LLB BA GAICD
Kim McGrath joined the South Gippsland Water Board
in July 2010. Kim has over 20 years experience in public policy
development and implementation in a range of portfolio areas including
governance, sustainability and the water industry. Kim is currently
engaged by the United Nations Development Program to assist Steve Bracks
AC on his Timor Leste Governance Project.

The Freedom of Information Act
allows the public a right of access to documents held by the
Corporation. South Gippsland Water is considered to be a “Government
Agency” under the terms of the Act . Accordingly, it is required to
comply with the procedures that have been prescribed and the
Corporation’s Freedom of Information policy guidelines. Decisions to
release information are made by an Authorised Officer.
Requests under the Freedom of
Information Act 1982, describing the documents requested, must be made,
in writing. A Freedom of Information (FoI) application fee of $24.40
is payable. Depending on the circumstances, further
charges may also be payable. FoI fees and charges are not subject to GST.

The Whistleblowers Protection
Act 2001 came into effect on 1 January 2002. The Act is designed to
protect people who disclose information about serious wrongdoing within
the Victorian Public Sector and to provide a framework for the
investigation of these matters.
The Protected Disclosure
Coordinator for the Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE)
acts as an agent for South Gippsland Water to receive disclosures under
the Whistleblowers Protection Act 2001, and applies departmental
procedures in managing disclosures. Disclosures may also be made
