Water Main Upgrade – Korumburra (Warragul Rd)

Thursday, April 28th, 2016

South Gippsland Water is conducting water main upgrade on Warragul Road Korumburra today.

The water main along Warragul Road is a major piece of infrastructure that transports water from the Water Treatment Plant through to the township of Korumburra.

The pipeline is a high pressure pipe and, given its location and key role in the delivery of water, any work completed on it is deemed as major works and of high priority to ensure the township’s water supply.

South Gippsland Water recognises that this type of work is disruptive to residents in the area and appreciates your patience.

Project Background

South Gippsland Water has been aware of issues with the water main in Warragul Road for a number of years. The nature and severity of the leaking water has been regularly monitored during this period of time.

Pipes move during times of variable climate conditions, valves deteriorate over time, and continued dry weather places stress on infrastructure.

South Gippsland Water undertook planned works on the main on March 8th and 9th this year to excavate and repair two leaks and one major valve on the pipeline.

Current Scheduled Works – Thursday 28th April 2016

Further works are now required on the main to fix an additional leak and replace one faulty valve.

South Gippsland Water endeavors to schedule works to minimise disruption to the community. The Corporation appreciates your patience and apologises for any disruption this upcoming work may cause within your neighborhood and to you personally.

This important section of infrastructure is on the Corporation’s Asset Maintenance Schedule for planned works replacement. South Gippsland Water will continue to update you should future works be required.
