Environment & sustainability

At South Gippsland Water, protecting and enhancing the environment is at the heart of everything we do. We supply safe drinking water, treat wastewater and ensure our activities support a healthy environment now and for future generations. Our operations span some of Victoria’s most beautiful and ecologically important landscapes, and we recognise our responsibility to care for the natural environment while delivering essential services to our customers.

Climate Change

Here’s what we are doing to address the impacts of climate change.

Net Zero

We’re committed to achieving net zero by 2035.

Land Management

We are one of several government agencies and community groups that work together to protect our catchments and waterways.

Catchment Management

There are nine legislated catchments from which we extract high quality drinking water for our customers.

Environmental Management System

Our role is to identify, manage and reduce impacts on the environment from our activities.

South Gippsland Water

South Gippsland Water proudly acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as Australia’s first peoples and the local Traditional Owners, Gunaikurnai and Bunurong, as the original custodians of the land and water on which we rely.

We stand in solidarity with our LGBTIQA+ colleagues and communities, and are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all people.
