Water Heroes take over Coal Creek these school holidays

Local families are invited to head to Coal Creek Community Park and Museum in Korumburra these September school holidays to see 140 colourful and creative posters celebrating why water matters.

The exhibition features artwork created by primary school students and kindergarteners from across South Gippsland, Bass Coast and Wellington Shire regions who took part in the 2026 National Water Week poster competition.

With entries received from six primary schools and two kindergartens, the exhibition is a celebration of the creativity, imagination and enthusiasm of the region’s youngest water champions.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there.

Families are encouraged to return to Coal Creek during National Water Week, from 19 to 25 October 2026, to see who the competition winners are.

The top three young Water Heroes in each category will receive Officeworks vouchers valued at $100, $50 and $25 respectively. Entries will be judged on how effectively they communicate the National Water Week theme; Water Heroes – Every Drop Counts, as well as visual impact, creativity and originality in the use of art materials.

South Gippsland Water thanks St Joseph’s Primary School Wonthaggi, Wonthaggi Primary School, Alberton Primary School, Meeniyan Primary School, Welshpool and District Primary School, Toora Primary School, Foster Kindergarten and Fish Creek Kindergarten for encouraging their young water heroes to take part.
