We are excited to announce that we have recently welcomed three new trainees, Kye Benson, Immy Wilson-Kells and Alistair Newton.

Our traineeships provide members of our community the opportunity to start a career in water, equipping the individual with a range of skills relevant to the respective field.

Kye and Immy have both joined the Maintenance Department, where over the next two years they will be completing a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (Network). They will be rotating through different teams every six months providing them with the opportunity to learn a range of duties associated with the operation and maintenance of water and sewerage networks, pumping stations and customer connections.

Alistair has joined us as a Water Treatment and Operator Trainee, where he will learn a range of duties associated with the operations and maintenance of water treatment facilities, and water quality processes.

Managing Director, Philippe du Plessis, said that at South Gippsland Water we’re passionate about encouraging local young people and those looking for a career change into our industry.

“There are always new challenges and opportunities at South Gippsland Water, with our business constantly evolving with new technologies and systems. It’s important that we encourage and nurture the growth of young people within our communities,” he said.
