Toora storage basin has a new liner and cover, ensuring it will continue to provide reliable, clean and safe water to the area for the next 20 years.

The upgrade is part of a $3.3 million South Gippsland Water investment in securing the future health of our region’s storage basins.

South Gippsland Water Managing Director Philippe du Plessis said the Toora basin stored 1 million litres of treated water.

“We’ve installed these durable plastic liners and covers to fully seal the basin storage and ensure that water, once treated, remains in a pristine condition for our customers,” he said.

“Our operators will flush the system if needed in the next few days, to reduce any impact to the taste of the water that may arise following these works. We’ll continue to monitor the water quality closely and wanted to reassure everyone that the water is safe to drink.”

Toora is the second in a series of six basins to receive new covers and liners through this project.
