We are excited to announce that we are currently advertising three trainee roles at South Gippsland Water. This includes one position as a Water Treatment and Operator Trainee and
two positions as Maintenance Trainee.

Managing Director Philippe du Plessis said that at South Gippsland Water we’re passionate about encouraging local young people and those looking for a career change into our industry.
“The two different traineeships will equip the successful candidates with a range of soft and hard skills relevant to the respective fields.”

“You’ll get the best industry training on offer and qualifications you can use all around Australia and the world,” he said. Now a treatment technologist, Will Egan said he found the traineeships a fantastic way into the water industry.

“There are always new challenges and opportunities at South Gippsland Water, I initially started my career as a water treatment and quality trainee, then was hired as an operator and now
work as a treatment technologist,” Will said.

South Gippsland Water’s water quality and treatment manager Bryan Chatelier oversees the Water Treatment and Operator program. “Our traineeship program provides you with an opportunity to start a career in the water industry as you learn a range of duties associated with the operations and maintenance of water
treatment facilities, and water quality processes,” he said.

The maintenance traineeship, for the first time ever, will give trainees the opportunity to rotate through the different teams within the department, including network, mechanical and electrical maintenance and watermain renewal.
